So, you have booked a Peach Blossom Session and you are super excited! SWEET! The next step is to figure out WARRRRRRDROBE (said in a Oprah Winfrey Yell). The good news, is that....since we have a set location with a predetermined color palette we can easily discount a lot of options.
Here is the secret sauce: You want to compliment the pink blooms, not compete or clash. If you are as enamored with the romance of the peach blossoms and I am, then you have probably already signed on for the soft, dreamy, mood that these sessions can portray. SO... how do you compliment, not clash? MUTED NEUTRALS!!
MUTED NEUTRALS!!! Oh how I love them. So versatile. Blush, Cream, Grey, Chambray, Light Tan, Linen... .all these gorgeous colors make for a soft dreamy palette that will compliment the blooms but not upstage them. You can even use some darker neutrals mixed in (Navy, Tan, Dark Grey). And if you want to mix in something a bit more bold, you can throw in a bit of plum or navy... super pretty. Just be careful when mixing in brighter colors. A little goes a long way. After you know what colors you would like to work with, the next step is..... TEXTURE!!
Texture is subtle, but it adds so much. Think.... lace, knits, cute faux fur for little girls, tulle, and embroidery. And of course layers. Sweaters, jackets, cardigans, vests, scarfs.... these things ad texture and depth to your wardrobe that can be super cute (and keep you warm if the temps are a little low). So, you might have this tulle dress for your sweet darling girl and it is perfect! In some of the images, we can pop on a lace and beaded cape for a little texture and it is a completely different look!
And here is my final take away yall: DRESS MOMMA FIRST!! I preach this one from the roof tops and I am 100% right. If you are doing Family Portraits for your Peach Blossom Session, then Momma needs to get her outfit together FIRST, then the kids. Because the truth is, if you pick out the cutest dress for baby girl, then spend hours on getting something for brother, and final just grab something from Target (Im not knocking target here yall, I love them and they are in my final will and testament) that coordinates but doesn't really shine, then Momma will not love the pictures.
Truth be told, your little darlings will be adorable in second hand combat boots. They are your kids. They look adorable in everything!!! BUT, if you dont like how you look in YOUR outfit......then you will not love your family picture.
Momma, as your Professional Photographer, I give you permission to go get yourself a beautiful outfit that makes you feel gorgeous. THEN dress everyone else to coordinate you. Amen.
Ok, so that is advice yall. PLUS I have put together a pinterst board with some super cute ideas here:
AND once you have your outfits, text me a picture and I will totally help! There has been plenty of times that a client texted a picture of a dress at a store or of all the outfits laid next to each other on the bed. Yall, I have no problem telling you plain when you have gone off course. I will steer you true.
What to Wear to your Peach Blossom Session
Now go out into the world my darlings and build that wardrobe!! Make me proud!
loves,
Allie
