Want to know how everyone will know that my senior pictures were taken in the late 90's [SNAKESKIN PANTS.] Yep, that’s right. I wore [red faux snakeskin pleather pants] in my senior pics (Heaven, forgive me).
So I’m kind of an accidental expert when it comes to dating your senior pics. Take it from me, you just don’t want to do this. So I’m going to teach you how not to! Here are 3 ways to accidentally DATE your senior pictures:
1. Fashion Trends: just like my [snakeskin pants] you’re going to want to be up-to-date for your senior portraits. But don’t be like me and dive in head first into the trend. Wear trends in small elements anchored by classic staples. This way, you’re still wearing a trend, but still timeless in style.
2. Accessories: remember when huge statement necklaces were a thing? Yeah, me too. I will always know when those pics were captured because of the big mint green and turquoise necklaces. To avoid dating your accessories, consider wearing simple and iconic pieces like a gold chain with a single pendant or smaller hoop or stud earrings. Anything that has been in simple style for decades is sure to be a winner.
3. Props: I’m looking at you, giant foam numbers! Keep your props simple by being photographed with things that are actually a part of your life right now. Bring your favorite fur friend, your fave book series, awards and medals, and future college gear. None of these will go “out of style” as they have sentimental value to you and will be memorialized in your portrait images.
